Why I Chose This Unusual Angle of the Glade Creek Grist Mill Waterfall
A closer look at a classic West Virginia scene in fall that caught my eye from a fresh perspective.

Let me tell you about this photo right here!
Glade Creek Grist Mill is one of those iconic West Virginia spots that’s been on my radar for a while. Earlier, I captured a winter waterfall image here that lots of people loved. Naturally, I had to come back in the fall to see what the season’s famous colors had to offer.
This particular shot was taken in October 2021, which was ironic given it wasn’t one of the best color years, at least not compared to others. Still, being there in person the scene felt alive and vibrant, even if the palette wasn’t the typical fiery reds and oranges everyone expects.
What I really wanted was a fresh take on this familiar view. Instead of the usual overlook, I got down low on some rocks closer to the waterfall. From this vantage point, you get the falling water, the old mill tucked in, and the colorful trees all together in one vertical frame.
Every time I visit this place, it strikes me with its natural beauty. Capturing it from a different angle reminded me how much there is to see when you step off the beaten path.
If you’re drawn to the mix of tranquility and energy in this scene, the rushing water, the historic mill, and the tree-lined creek, you’ll appreciate having this image on your wall. It’s printed on ChromaLuxe metal, which gives the details a crisp clarity, and it comes with a frame mount so you can hang it easily. Estimated delivery is 12–16 business days.
